This is a great brisket recipe.  You need to think ahead because it needs to marinate for 8 hours. I don’t pour the sauce on it at the end, because I think its best to let people add it, if they want.

Oven Barbecued Beef Brisket

Rating: 51

Prep Time: 8 hours, 10 minutes

Cook Time: 4 hours

Total Time: 12 hours, 10 minutes

Serving Size: 8 to 10

Ingredients

  • ( 4 to 5 pound ) beef brisket
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup commercial barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle beef with celery salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place in shallow dish. Pour liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce over meat; cover with aluminum foil, and refrigerate 8 hours., turning once.
  2. Bake at 300 for 4 hours or until tender. Pour off liquid, reserving 1/2 cup. Combine barbecue sauce and 1/2 cup reserved liquid, stirring well. Pour sauce over beef; bake uncovered an additional 30 minutes. Let reset for 10 minutes. To serve, slice across grain into thin slices.
  3. Usually mine is done after 4 hours so I don't add sauce and don't cook the additional 30 minutes.
