Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 1/4 cup hot water

combine and let cool set aside

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking cocoa
  • 3/4 + 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions
 

  • Cream sugar and butter and eggs
  • Add remaining dry ingredients mix
  • Then add date mixture and mix well
  • Add chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Pour into greased 9 x13 pan
  • Sprinkle batter with 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1/4 cup brown sugar or white sugar
  • Bake 350 for40 minutes
