Sweet and Sour Meatballs

I got this recipe from my friend Jeri. She and I catered for a little while, we didn’t make much money but had fun cooking together. We have made thousands of these meatballs. They are still a hit a our house. We usually have them at Christmas and New Year’s.

Ingredients
  

Meatballs

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup small onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Sauce

  • 1 12 oz bottle chili sauce
  • 1 10 oz jar grape jelly
  • juice of one lemon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Meatballs

  • Mix all ingredients for meatballs together, mix well and shape into 2 inch balls. Put on a cookie sheet, you can put them close together. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes until brown and cooked through. Drain off grease.

Sauce

  • In a small sauce pan combine ingredients for sauce and simmer until jelly has melted. Put meatballs in crockpot on low and pour sauce over meatballs. Serve.
