This is a yummy moist chocolate cake. This came from a girl who has been my friend since grade school. I think of her every time I make it.  You poke holes in the warm cake and pour a delicious chocolate icing in the holes. Delicious!!

Verlynn’s Chocolate Cake

Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Icing
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cube butter
  • 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • dash salt

Instructions

  • Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Mix remaining ingredients and then add 1 cup hot water. This might seem a little runny. Pour in a 13 x 9 baking dish sprayed with baking spray. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
  • Icing
  • In a sauce pan add all ingredients except vanilla and cook over medium heat until boiling. Cook 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Poke holes in warm cake and pour icing over warm cake
