This is such a easy cake, it is moist and delicious.  I got this from my Aunt Colleen Cunningham, this is quick and easy and makes enough for a crowd.  I think it is just a different name for Texas Sheet Cake.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 4 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

  • Cake
  • In a saucepan combine water, butter and cocoa bring to a boil and take off heat. Sift together in a mixing bowl, flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add cocoa mixture to flour mixture and mix well. Add eggs, vanilla and buttermilk. Spray a large cookie sheet or jelly roll pan, pour cake into prepared pan and bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes. Immediately when your remove from oven frost cake.
  • While cake is baking make icing:
  • Melt butter, cocoa and buttermilk in sauce pan. Bring to boil, remove from heat and add powdered sugar, a little at a time. Add vanilla and mix well. You can add nuts to frosting or at our house some people can't eat nuts. So I put nuts on top of just half the cake
